In the summer of 1989, Hudson, Paul, and I drove across the country to explore the American West. I tried to document our playful journey with sketches and illustrations of the places we went. We spent a good deal of time backpacking and camping in the wilderness, and it was usually a refreshing change of pace to find ourselves amidst the comforts and luxuries of civilization.
We met Joey at the corner of Haight and Ashbury at midnight, and we stayed with him in his apartment for two nights in San Francisco before we continued up the coast on Hwy 101 towards the Redwoods. This is a sketch in which I attempt to capture the stunning and brilliant architecture of the houses and apartments on Oak Street. (Joey’s apartment is left building, 2nd floor.)
Nice!
Thanks!
