This is one of the color drawings I drew during my first winter in Seattle. I tried to soothe my homesickness with drawings of lovely memories from my past life in Athens. This is me and Jen exploring a creek in southeastern Ohio, a memory that I’m no longer quite sure I remember… I have no doubt that we really did explore the creek, but I can’t remember when this was, or what we talked about, or any of the particulars. Without the drawing, this memory might have been lost to me by now.
The drawing reminds me that this day was dear to me, and was a comforting memory during the winter of 1991. I wonder how many other days of my life go unremembered just because I didn’t draw them.
