The first two birds here are in crayon on my 2′ x 3′ drawing pad (way too big for my 8″ x 11″ scanner!). In my next post I’ll share the progress of these birds on the Arctic Room canvas in acrylics. The pencil sketch is of a Ural Owl, which I read about and drew from pictures in my June 2012 National Geographic. Such a beautiful bird! The last bird (a Siberian crane in crayon color) is on my 9″ x 12″ sketch pad, awaiting its transformation onto the canvas. There’s a story about the canvas, and I’ll share it in my next post. (Maybe the acrylic painting will be finished then! My very first bird in acrylics!)
Alison, I hope these birds will offset the disturbing images of the wasps from the last post!
Karen: I remember you asked me to draw an owl. I hope you like this Ural owl. Everyone else: Enjoy!
Nice owl. These birds are really pretty!
Thanks, Misabelle! Yeah, the owl is my favorite. It’s an incredibly beautiful bird, and if you get the chance, try to find a photo of one; The plumage is amazing!
Thanks for visiting my blog!
