I’m trying to create with pens and brushes an image with a sci-fi outer space look for the backdrop, but I haven’t yet succeeded. I came down to the Arctic Room and decided to try painting the backdrop with acrylics. Here’s my first attempt. The colors are just cobalt blue, a peach tint, and white (on a solid black background). I think the bluish swirls are supposed to be space clouds of stars and such.
Here are two small sections of the painting that I particularly like.
I now have five canvases in the Arctic Room, each in various stages of development. While the paint dries on one canvas, I can move on to work on a different canvas. This way I don’t have to take so many breaks during painting sessions when I wait for paints to dry.
On an unrelated subject, let me point out the newest post on my EVENTS page: Athens’ very own comic convention, RathaCon, is set for April 26. I’ll be posting more about the event and the artists and activities for the day during the weeks leading up to the event. If you think you’ll be in Athens that weekend (or have friends who might like to come to our comic convention), share this event with others! (You can also “Like” our Facebook Page, and share it, too! Thanks!
